Fixed width layouts have a width set in pixels and stay consistent between all resolutions and screen sizes.

Liquid width layouts stretch to fill the browser window.

Using CSS3 for round corners allows for the cleanest markup/least scripting and works with standards compliant browsers such as firefox and safari - other browsers such as Internet Explorer will degrade to squared corners.

Image based corners work in most browsers but sometimes require extra non-semantic markup to implement.

A hybrid or JavaScript approach uses a mix of techniques so that the majority of browsers render the corners correctly.

If you have multiple/nested levels of navigation or wish to show dropdown menus in your navigation bar, choose a nested navigation option.

If the user increases/decreases the text size the text on the page will resize (pixel units do not do this in internet explorer).

If you are use non-websafe fonts you can optional still display them using images or dynamic text replacement (sIFR). Using these methods may impact semantics & accessibility, and/or degrade performance, so we recommend sticking with websafe fonts when possible.
